Design Concept

Second, I will talk about the design concept which is my favorite topic in college. I got all of the information of this topic from a book called Writer/Designer by Arola, Sheppard, and Ball. This information will give you a brief understanding of design concept that used in multimodal projects.

 

Element:

The Text is made up with different elements to give the text cohesive meaning. There are many elements used in every text such as images, words, colors, or shapes.

 

Emphasis:

Emphasis makes the important elements to be highlighted from the text by making them bigger or having a different color.

 

Contrast:

Contrast means some elements that have different shapes or colors make them stand out of the text from other elements.

 

Organization:

Organization means arranging elements in a way that will makes the text organized and the elements working together.

 

Alignment:

Alignment means making elements following a single line in text.

 

Proximity:

Proximity means making some elements closer from other elements by moving them in space.

 

Color:

Color can be used to emphasis elements inside a text.

 

Framing:

Framing means focusing in a specific element inside a text by creating a frame around that element.

 

Sequence:

Sequence means viewing elements in specific order inside text by making a story out of these elements.
